Eligibility Criteria & Packet Elements

Nominations are open to all currently certified or licensed K-12 teachers across America. Portfolios can be safely prepared by supervisors, fellow educators, or family members or via self-nomination.

  • Signed Application Form: The completed brochure containing clear teacher background details and counter-signatures.
  • Teaching Resume Profile: A typed summary of instructional history stretching from one single page to a maximum of five pages.
  • Classroom Evidence: Up to five optional pages of references, community news clippings, or program notes.
  • Photo Portrait: A clean head-and-shoulders print for organizational distribution and media tracking.

Post Submission Close: Fully completed packets must be turned in to your local, community-based VFW Post node.
NOV 1-15
Post-Level Judging: Local evaluation panels review portfolios to determine regional bracket winners.
JAN 1
State Progression: Localized District winners advance directly into Department (state) headquarters review tracks.
